Natural Born Tracker

Learn How to Track Wildlife & Read the Story of Nature

"I'm loving the class! Chris is great and the Facebook group learning and conversation is inspiring! I'm noticing so much more than I did before I started this - how many different kinds of "signs" the forest holds! The meaning of both "track" and "sign" are vastly expanded for me.

Many thanks to WAWU for the quality and design of this course. It will be the first of many for me!"

Natural Born Tracker will immerse you into the ancient, yet still relevant, art and science of wildlife tracking. Learn how to read the story of nature like a living storybook and increase your awareness and enjoyment of the natural world.

Whether you are looking to start or enhance a career in the outdoors, get better at finding and seeing wildlife or capturing the perfect photo. Whether you are interested in nature therapy, wilderness survival, hunting, or general nature enjoyment. Natural Born Tracker will have something to offer you

This course can be taken no matter where in the world you live and no matter what habitat you live in (urban, rural or wilderness). We start with the basics of how to find tracks and identify them. From there we progress into advanced topics such as telling how fast an animal was moving, what they were doing when they made the track and so much more.

One amazing aspect of the course is being able to go at your own pace and make the lessons fit into your unique schedule. Depending on how much time you have to put in, the online lessons could take you between 3 weeks and 3 months.

After you complete all the online lessons you will still have access to the online community so you can continue to grow and learn.

Your tracker training pathway will have three main components to it:

1) The Online Classroom - Where you will watch inspiring and educational video's, download working documents and learn from an instructor and mentor with 15 years studying and teaching tracking skills. Chris even teaches a for credit college level tracking course at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Ontario.

2) Hands On, In the Field Tracking - This is where you take the lessons learned, and activities assigned, in the online classroom out into your community. This is where you start to become a tracker! You will be led through a series of activities to help you learn to find tracks in your community. You will learn to not only identify them but to begin to actually interpret what the animal was doing when the track was made. We call this the Six Arts of Tracking: Who, What, Where, When, Why & How?

3) The Online Community - We have a saying in the tracker community, "You are always right when you track alone". An integral part of this program is to bring your questions, photo's, stories and ideas back to discuss with the online community. The mentors are actively engaged in the conversation here helping you digest and learn from all the experiences you have out in the field. The more you engage here, the more you will grow!

"Love the videos, Chris loves what he does. His enthusiasm gets me excited to get out there and track. I would tell a new student, not only will you learn how to track but you'll have the opportunity to peek into these amazing animals lives and come away with an awesome experience that you just can't buy anywhere. I love it! Can't wait to start sharing these tracking skills with my grandkids."
